SALKANTAY EXPRESS TREK
(Level Easy - Moderate)
CUSCO / CHONTA / PINCOPATA ECOCAMP
Arrive in Cusco. Take it easy today to acclimatise for the following days' hike. View the majestic Condors and explore archaeological sites important to the Inca Empire.
Trek to the summit of Alpu Tica for amazing views of the snow-capped peaks of the Salkantay Mountains. Descend to the archaeological site of Choquechurco.
Option 1: Start your trail at Marcoccasa with a hike overlooking the spectacular Rio Blanco Valley and snowy peaks. After lunch, opt for a hike to the glacier lake of Humantay.
Option 2: Begin your trek at the bottom of the valley up to the challenging final climb at Abra Pass and be rewarded with spectacular views of Salkantay's snowy and wild south face.
PINCOPATA ECOCAMP / MISMINAY / SACRED VALLEY
Immerse yourself in Quechua culture in the local villages en route to Sacred Valley.
SACRED VALLEY / AGUAS CALIENTES
Option 1: Train to KM 104 where you hike on a section of the legendary Inca Trail, leading you to Aguas Calientes, gateway to Machu Picchu.
Option 2: Trek to La Puerta del Sol along the ancient Inca road network and arrive at the Sun Gate, before continuing to Aguas Calientes.
AGUAS CALIENTES / MACHU PICCHU / CUSCO
Explore the UNESCO site of Machu Picchu where you will uncover the mysteries of this sacred city. Take a train to Ollantaytambo and drive back to Cusco.
