SHIRAZ

Visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Eram Garden and the tombs of renowned Persian poets, Hafez and Saadi. Walk through Vakil Mosque and its vibrant bazaar and visit the Ali Ebne Hamzeh Mausoleum with its mesmerising interior.

DAY

SHIRAZ / PERSEPOLIS / YAZD

Visit the dazzling Nasir-ol-Molk Mosque with its kaleidoscopic interiors. Drive to the ruins of Persepolis and Naqsh-e Rostam, built by one of the greatest ancient empires Achaemenian more than 2,000 years ago. Continue to Yazd and en-route, visit Pasargadee, the Tomb of Cyrus the Great.

YAZD

Explore the Old City and visit Yazd’s famous Jameh Mosque, Zoroastrian Towers of Silence, the Ateshkadeh or Fire Temple, Amir Chakhmaq Complex for a panoramic view of the city. Climb up the UNESCO-listed Dolat Abad Garden with Iran’s tallest wind tower. Discover the hidden world of underground aqueducts at Qanat Museum as well as a historic water tank Zurkhaneh which translates literally to House of Strength.

DAY

YAZD / MEYBOD / KHARANAQ / ESFAHAN

Drive to the mud-brick village of Kharanaq. Visit the Qajar-era mosque, the 17th-century shaking minaret, the caravanserai at the edge of town, and the ancient aqueduct in the valley below. Continue to Meybod, a sprawling mud-brick town that is at least 1,800 years old. West of town, visit the conical-roofed Safavid-era Yakhchal or ice house, and the Shah Abbasi Caravanserai. Drive to Esfahan.

ESFAHAN

“Esfahan nesf e jahan” which means “Esfahan is half the world”, a befitting phrase for the grandeur and beauty of the city. This is also a major production centre of the famous Persian Carpet! Spend a full day here visiting most of the important historical sites – Imam Square with the Imam Mosque, Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, Ali Qapu Palace and Bozorg Bazaar. Late afternoon, visit two of the city’s ancient bridges – Khaju & Si-O-Se Pol.

ESFAHAN

Have another day of sightseeing of this great city including the Jameh Mosque, Madrase-ye Chabar Bagh, Vank Cathdral and the Esfahan Music Museum in the Armenian Quarter and Chehel Sotun Palace for its beautiful frescoes.

DAY

ESFAHAN / ABYANEH / KASHAN

Drive to the picturesque mountain village of Abyaneh in the north for an insight into traditional village life. Continue north to Kashan. Visit the Sultan Amir Ahmad Bathhouse, Fin Garden (UNESCO site) with its beautiful setting and Borujerdiyeh and Tabatabaeiha Houses and the unique Agha Bozorg Mosque and Madrasah. With a long history of more than 2,500 years, a visit to a rosewater factory or workshop should not be missed.

DAY

KASHAN / TEHRAN

En route to the capital of Iran, detour to Namak Lake or Salt Lake. Tehran is the political and commercial centre of Iran, a huge metropolis filled with never ending bazaars and home to many fascinating museums. Visit the National Museum of Archeology, Reza Abbasi Museum and the Carpet Museum. Take a ride on the Tehran Metro and go up the Milad Tower.

DAY

TEHRAN

Explore the Golestan Palace – a former royal Qajar complex, and Saadabad Palace built by the Pahlavi dynasty. Escape the chaotic metropolis to lovely Darband for lunch. In the afternoon, explore the National Jewels Museum.
